Researchers, faculty and students in post-secondary institutions have a new way to access data resources, including acute inpatient data held in CIHI’s Discharge Abstract Database (DAD).
The DAD captures administrative, clinical and demographic information on hospital discharges (including deaths, sign-outs and transfers). The access point for this data: Statistics Canada’s Data Liberation Initiative. For more details, send an email to dli-idd@statcan.gc.ca.

CIHI wants your feedback on the new Performance Measurement Framework for the Canadian Health System that is being proposed. Its goal: to understand and improve health system performance.
The new measurement framework provides a common approach for jurisdictions to measure health system performance. It looks at various connections among and inputs to the health system, including patient demographics; political, economic and cultural context; and leadership and allocation of resources.
